If you’re anything like me, you tend to gravitate towards pieces you can layer up to wear now and strip down to wear in the warmer months. Versatility. That word is the exact word I use when justifying my spending sprees to my [cheap… I mean frugal] husband.
Versatile items can work in the sub-zero temps of January and yet in humid as-can-be August. Layering will play a big role in wearing now and later as we know Wisconsin weather is unpredictable, no matter the season.
Here are some [current] in-store favorites and tips for sporting them now, and later…
The Cotton Overall (Michelle by commune)
Comfortable and stylish… sold yet?! These can be dressed up, down and sideways! A simple tank underneath and sass it up with jewelry for a great summer look. Or, layer it with a military-inspired Joe’s Jeans jacket, booties and run out the door to meet the girls for chillier rooftop cocktails. This piece flew out of the store in a day so we re-ordered it and there are a few pieces that aren’t spoken for that will hit the floor on Monday!
The Wide-leg Pant (Knot Sisters)
Love at first sight with these babies! A relaxed feeling on but oh-so-chic and a must have for all seasons. To wear these now, we paired them with a classic, front and back V-neck sweatshirt by n:philanthropy and basic black booties. I’d even throw some opaque tights underneath, heels and a leather jacket on for an edgier look. As a wear later option, we went nautical. A sweet chambray tank by Lovestitch, sandals and a bright white clutch just screams for sunset boat cruises. Accessorize with big [Khloe Kardashian-esk] hoops.
In all honesty, these pieces only scratch the surface of what’s available in the shop! I could have written about every single top and bottom, and of course, could have purchased every one. Stop in to not only see what’s new but also let us know how you’re styling your favorite Willow pieces for now and later!
